Notes Martin Wörner (born 1993 in Flonheim) comes from a family with a long tradition of winemaking, with his grandfather already growing grapes in Rheinhessen. After his viticulture studies in Geisenheim, he studied under Tom Lubbe of Domaine Matassa and worked at Gut Oggau, two of the greats of natural wine. With a distinctive approach to wine making and a new found appreciation of hand harvesting, Martin then returned to his home region of Rheinhessen. His first white cuvée was bottled in 2016, combining mash fermentation and direct pressing. Since then, Martin has grown and gradually expanded his unique style. Still cultivating vines his grandfather’s generation has planted, such as Bacchus, Faber and Huxelrebe, he reinterprets these rather out of fashion grapes together with more timely ones, for example Riesling in his white cuvée. The harvesting of the grapes is started rather early, which allows Martin to respond to the grapes of each vintage – creating his wine in a new composition and according to a new method every year.
