Pablo Losa Fontangordo (Asturias, Spain 1993) is an architect educated in the schools of Madrid, Tokyo and Ahmedabad. His work, ranging from ephemeral installations or pavillions to urban planning, has won awards in public competitions in Switzerland, Canada and Spain. He combines his architectural practice with painting, digital illustration or printing amongst others.
Since the beginning of our history, our means of representation remain constant in many ways: a surface is always present, in the form of a cavernous wall, a paper, a lens, a screen... And on these surfaces, with different tools, we leave marks that are only witnesses of our existence (je suis vivant! je vais mourir!), attempts to apprehend the real that, even when failing, transform it. And that's what I do: I look and I paint.
Our eyes wander around transforming what they touch: Baudelaire's gaze, which turns carrion into a superb carcass; Smithson's, which renders the industrial waste of Passaic monuments, ruins of the future; Or Heraclitus', lying on the grass, raising a leg towards the sky, discovers that the sun and his foot are the same size. To look is to transform, to describe is to transform. It is not an exercise in conviction or faith, it is the the unveiling of an imagined truth. A realization.
