Exhibition
Out of Sight
Aug. 2nd, 6pm – 7th, 7pm 2024
Out of Sight emerges from alternative exercises of using drawing as a form of immediate recording. The show is a constellation of works engaging with the acts of drawing, mark making, and appropriation from sources of popular media.
The narratives, loosely centred around tools of technology and landscapes, take their cues from the act of photography and translate it into the slower process of drawing. Drawing, as an unpacking of a lived experience, then becomes a ground for the real and fictional to co-exist. The artist intervenes in the images—drawn from the everyday, culture, and media—through the play of paint and material. In contrast to the layered and detailed way of painting, visual design and text engage in play and obviousness, as illustrations of context.
