Work Description

"Blow-Up", Antonioni's much-cited film from 1967, is illuminated by Claudia Christoffel from an artistic perspective in her publication of the same title. In the exhibition "The Way We Are 2.0" at the Museum Weserburg in Bremen, the artist and art historian has turned the well-known film poster on its head. In the accompanying artist's book, Blow-Up#MeToo, she prints the dialogue of the introductory scene between photographer and model in large ("blown-up") letters, highlighting the photographer's degrading perspective and language within what is actually a professionally conceived work situation. Since MeToo at the latest, the gendered power position of producers and directors in the film and creative industries has been discussed.
