Editor Brad Freeman begins the inaugural issue of the Journal of Artists’ Books with a statement of purpose: “Artists’ books have come of age. This is increasingly evidenced in the number of mature artists whose primary medium is artists’ books, the many public and private collections, exhibitions, college level classes, and texts about artists’ books. JAB will be a forum for serious and lively debate about artists’ books and the contents within them. Buy more artists’ books. They’re cheap.”
