Sightwalk, Gueorgui Pinkhassov's first book, is far more than just a book of photographs.

It is a beautiful object and an extraordinary piece of design in its own right: a modernist Japanese photo album created from Oriental fabrics and papers, and bound by hand.

Within, the sense of innovation and artistry is communicated through the photographs that explore the complex ways in which singular details such as plays of light and reflections can capture a spirit and shape an atmosphere. In these images, settings sometimes no longer make clear spatial or thematic sense. Rather, just like the artist's accompanying poetic texts that bring them to life, the pictures become a play on our perceptions.

Perché i libri di fotografia devono avere una foto in copertina? “Sightwalk” è una raccolta di immagini di Tokyo ad opera del fotografo di origine russa della Magnum Gueorgui Pinkhassov e ha fornito al designer l’occasione per rompere con la tradizione. Sightwalk è rilegato in "Beluga", un materiale con bolle stampate in rilievo. All’interno le immagini sono riprodotte su carta metallica e le pagine hanno una piegatura alla francese. Un sistema di griglie con bolle in rilievo appare di nuovo nell’indice che contiene tutte le foto pubblicate nel libro. Il volume si sviluppa poi in una serie di finestre con titoli dallo stile 'haiku' ad introdurre ciascun capitolo. Nel complesso questi elementi conferiscono ritmo e incoraggiano a soffermarsi sulle immagini trasformando una raccolta di sole 25 fotografie in un suntuoso album.
