Publisher Note
This book is the first collection of works in Japan by Glenn Murcutt (1936-), a renowned Australian architect.
Murcutt, who received the prestigious Pritzker Prize, often referred to as the Nobel Prize of architecture, in 2002, has gained worldwide recognition for his design achievements over a career spanning 40 years, during which he has created over 500 architectural projects in Australia. Murcutt's architecture is not only characterized by its exquisite attention to detail but also by its thoughtful creation of "spatial contraptions" that respond to the natural environment and generate rich living spaces.
In this book, a selection of 13 representative works is presented through beautifully captured photographs that capture the essence of Murcutt's architecture, which harmonizes with nature. Murcutt's architecture, which derives beautiful solutions from the natural environment, continues to lead contemporary architecture as a remarkable example of sustainability-driven design.
Additionally, the accompanying publication "Glenn Murcutt: Thinking Drawing/Working Drawing" features the 13 works showcased in this book through architectural drawings.
