Was man von Fischaugen lernen kann, wie man mit ihnen umgeht, wo sie zu finden sind und wie sie sich so hartnäckig halten konnten.
"out of a secure space into an area where proximity forces to move simultaneously. there is a marker, a critical distance to follow. like balancing a stick belly to belly.
the movement of the skater rushing towards the camera. the lower body holding that stick. neck, arm and the eye in the viewfinder determining the right angle for the picture. three directions to pay attention to. plus anticipating the peak moment of expression in order to catch it. a single focus is impossible.
the field of vision is now similar to that of the skater‘s. feeling movements rather than seeing them. multiple points within the immediate surrounding are scanned simultaneously. it rather feels like the picture is filled with a quickly growing shadow that wants to be catched.
at this stage the role of the camera has become active. the common position of the passive observer morphs into a participatory one, into a dance with the observed. these fractures of a moment hold a zone of interaction during which intuition, maybe an indistinction, can overrule intention."
