The work “Das Würfelspiel” by Lisa Schiess consists of a total of 54 parts – 6 large net dice, 6 small net dice, 6 small eye dice and 36 tokens - the measure of all parts is the number 6, analogous to the 6 sides of the dice.
With the edition “6 × 6”, the 36 game chips from the dice game are available in a limited edition. “6 × 6” can be used, in the tradition of conventional games - like the Memory - as a laying game for several people. In this game, however, the players must agree on their own rules that are binding for all. By playing, i.e. by combining and being guided intuitively, the players can also let themselves be led astray by the potential variety of images in the “6 × 6” game and interpret their own images.
Elisabeth Grossmann writes: The multi-part nature and variability of this work is to be understood here as an offer to recognize art in its transformative character and at the same time to participate in this process. The split and variable image means a rejection of the traditional features of unambiguity and uniformity by consciously working with the moment of open standpoint.
