Publisher Note

The Mougins Photography Center is part of the city's strong and demanding cultural policy across its entire territory. In the old village, the Cultural Space, the Local History Museum, and the former André Villers Photography Museum are or have been exhibition spaces focused on the city's and region's heritage, as well as contemporary creation. Since 2015, the "Monumental" event has enlivened the village with the installation of its large-scale sculptures.
In the Tournamy district, the media library offers a varied offering and literary activities. Scène 55 houses performing arts combining theater, dance, and puppetry. Nearby, the Cannes-Mougins Rosella Hightower dance school extends beyond the town. Belonging to the city of Mougins, the Eco'Parc has been redeveloped into an educational entertainment park.
The Photography Center follows the photographic projects initiated by the city of Mougins, from 1986 to 2019, in the André Villers Photography Museum – currently the Center's administration. This museum housed the André Villers collection (1930-2016), a photographer close to Picasso, with more than 300 pieces. Portraits of Picasso or his contemporaries, the photographs are by André Villers, Lucien Clergue, David Douglas Duncan, Edward Quinn, or Jacques-Henri Lartigue. Between 2013 and 2018, the venue exhibited the winners of the HSBC Photography Prize, already demonstrating its interest in contemporary creation.
