Publisher Note

Alter Ego (Farozonen, 2025) is the latest book in Owe Gustafson’s series of autofictional, fully illustrated volumes. The book, which gathers short, poignant essays, is small enough to fit in the inside pocket of a blazer — or in a magician’s hat. It is published in an equally small-scale first edition: only 150 copies have been printed.

Owe Gustafson (b. 1940) is a Swedish author, artist, illustrator and all-round creator. His artistic career spans five decades, and he had his major breakthrough with the now-cult animations for the children’s television programme Fem myror är fler än fyra elefanter, which premiered on SVT in 1973. Since then, he has exhibited in cities such as Paris, New York and Tokyo, and authored more than ten books.
