Publisher Note
At the end of the day, the child hears the name "Beirut / Tokyo 東京 and one picture of Mt. Fuji / Happy in the UAE" Something bulky? But it still makes sense. 404 pages. 3 books. Optional a plexiglass slipcase. Three seemingly arbitrary parts of the world. In total 318 pictures. And no more than 90 percent of these pictures show no people. But what does that tell us? Nothing for now.
What you are holding in your hands is a very special, personal collection of photographs, taken in Lebanon, Japan and the United Arab Emirates between 2010 and 2017. Martin Stöbich has largely migrated to these photographs. With a small, handy, analog Leica camera. And while wandering around taking pictures, Martin Stöbich's head already shows the sequences, which then find serial expression in book form. The images are, so to speak, film stills from Stöbich's explorations of the area. And that's what Stöbich is essentially about: exploring areas. Classify things for yourself.
