Publisher Note

Continuum is a catalogue dedicated to the first group of artists exhibited since April 2018 in the Ala Scaligera of the Rocca di Angera (on Lake Maggiore). Giovanni Anselmo, Vanessa Beecroft, Daniel Buren, Sheila Hicks, Anish Kapoor, Giulio Paolini, Ettore Spalletti, are great masters from different generations working with the most disparate languages, innovating the way we look at art and the concept of what it art is today, together with their gallerist Massimo Minini, promoter with SAG srl of this publication. This exhibition was made possible thanks to the Borromeo family who, with the completion of the restoration of the Rocca di Angera and the Ala Scaligera, has renewed its historical support for the arts, which has been continuing uninterrupted for centuries. The Ala Scaligera at the Rocca di Angera will be an evocative exhibition site, dedicated exclusively to contemporary art and creativity. Its rooms, visible for the first time after the recovery, have been renovated with a particular attention to the most modern canons of display while maintaining the traces of the building’s original architecture. The opening of the Ala Scaligera is a moment of great importance in the landscape and monumental context that counts few equal worldwide, and that is able to welcome a high number of visitors each year: a new public will make contact (in some cases for the first time) with the research of contemporary artists, getting to create a unique pole of landscape, architectural and cultural attraction.
