Publisher Note
This publication presents the photographs taken by the inmates of the Italian Rebibbia prison, during the first workshop “Frammenti di Libertà” (fragments of freedom), an inclusion and training project conceived and conducted by the volunteer association Scatto Libero.
Each inmate had access to a camera, a roll of 36 exposures and the possibility of taking photos in the common areas of the prison.
The SCATTO LIBERO volunteer association was founded in 2016 from an idea by Tania Boazzelli as a photography project designed for prisoners. The aim of the initiative is to raise awareness of the potential of photography to those who generally do not have the opportunity to use it. Scatto Libero has now expanded, embracing new realities beyond prison, to create photography projects in other socially fragile places.
