Dal vero was taken between 1986 and 1989 and started as an ideal contribution to the renowned project "Traversate del deserto" curated by Gianni Celati in 1986, after which Ballardini developed a sophisticated and personal approach to the landscape. Between 2009 and 2010 Ballardini revisited the photographs, making a final selection of images and creating a new and final edition of prints. The result of this work is presented here for the first time as a monograph.
