Brohm’s major long-term project is threefold. At an immediate level, it documents the developmental change of an industrial district in a post-industrial residential and services area. Secondly, it expresses the ongoing, perpetual movement and change in which society is currently implicated, revealing the transitory, shifting nature of reality, and changes in how perception and reality interrelate. At a third level, the project reflects Joachim Brohm’s position as a stranger to the world, who is carefully, indeed delicately, seeking to reveal the outside world without moral judgement. He achieves this almost stoically, repeatedly returning to the same ‚scene’, thus subjecting his life and photographic oevre to the rhythm of repetition. Moreover, in this interpretation, the series of photographs reflects a certain meditative approach, based on return, repeated scrutiny and heedful consideration, sometimes recording the most minor of changes.

Questo principale progetto a lungo termine di Brohm è triplice. A un livello immediato, è un distretto industriale in un’area residenziale e di servizi post-industriali. In secondo luogo, esprime il continuo, perpetuo movimento e cambiamento, in cui la società è attualmente implicata, rivelando la transitorietà, la mutante natura della realtà e le trasformazioni della correlazione tra percezione e realtà. A un terzo livello, il progetto riflette la posizione di estraneità di Joachim Brohm, nel suo tentativo accurato, addirittura delicato, di rivelare il mondo esterno senza giudizio morale. Brohm raggiunge questo intento quasi stoicamente, con il reiterato ritorno sulla stessa “scena”, sottoponendo così la sua vita e il suo scatto fotografico al ritmo della ripetizione. Questa serie di fotografie riflette anche un approccio meditativo, improntato sul ritorno, sull’esame ripetuto e sull’attenta considerazione, registrando talvolta un cambiamento seppure minimo.
