The publication “Intrusion” traces the entanglement of migration in cartographies. The project juxtaposes Google Streetview screenshots of the northern French city of Calais, taken between 2014 and 2018, with their updated 2019 versions, each on a double-page spread. The 2014-2018 images show numerous refugees, tents and camps. After Google’s 2019 update, no people are visible; rather, newly erected martial border fences are now visible. Whether the removal of the traces of the crisis from the internet was politically motivated or just part of a standardized update process remains unanswered, even after an inquiry to Google.

Die Publikation Intrusion verfolgt die Verwicklung von Migration in Kartographien. Das Projekt stellt je auf einer Doppelseite Google Streetview Screenshots der Nordfranzösischen Stadt Calais, die zwischen 2014 und 2018 aufgenommen wurden, mit deren aktualisierten Versionen von 2019 gegenüber. Die Bilder von 2014–2018 zeigen zahlreiche geflüchtete Personen, Zelte und Camps. Nach Googles Update 2019 sind keine Personen mehr zu sehen, vielmehr sind nun neu errichtete martialische Grenzzäune zu erkennen. Ob die Entfernung der Spuren der Krise aus dem Internet politisch motiviert oder nur Teil eines standardisierten Aktualisierungsprozesses war, bleibt auch nach einer Anfrage bei Google unbeantwortet.
