Publisher Note

Artist Monica Ursina Jäger's practice is characterized by a multidisciplinary reflection on concepts of space, landscape, and architecture that explore the relationship between the natural and built environments. As a research associate and lecturer at the Institute for the Environment and Natural Resources at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), the artist has been researching the development of new forms of dialogue between artistic practices and scientific research in a transdisciplinary team since 2016. In the interplay between the intuitive, the narrative and the documentary, she examines transformation, reorganization and mediation processes in her artistic work by questioning the boundaries between scientific and artistic knowledge production.
In addition to Jäger's most recent works - in which she deals with post-natural landscapes, the Anthropocene and the geopolitical dimensions of natural resources - the catalog for the cabinet exhibition in the Franz Gertsch Museum shows documentation of the site-specific spatial installation "Shifting Topograhies", made for the museum, which examines the relationship between the contrasting organisms of forest and city.
