Publisher Note

From the early 1960s, Ed Ruscha's word paintings represented a new kind of painted image, the result of a powerful encounter between the soundscape of everyday life and the world of the printed word, interwoven with the universe of cinema. The work of Jean-Marc Bustamante (1952), initially known for his large-format camera photographs, transposes these captured landscapes into large abstract scenes on Plexiglas.
This book, designed by Philippe Millot, brings together these two emblematic figures of contemporary art and highlights the resonance of their approaches around the theme of the horizon and the contemporary landscape.
