Publisher Note
Nomad Archive brings together more than 2000 images taken between 1975 and 1981 by the Spanish photographer Alberto Garcia-Alix. The book shows the life and environment of the artist at a time of great political, social and cultural upheaval caused by the Spanish Democratic Transition.
This first volume which covers a period of 7 years, presents photos of the first rally of the CNT (National Confederation of Labour) after the civil war which was one of the first demonstrations in Spain to defend the rights of gay, lesbian and transgender people. The book also captures the birth of alternative cultures led by Spanish youth, the spread of drug use and the effervescent cultural activity of Madrid’s flea market in the 1970s.
Published by Cabeza de Chorlito, the work is organized into chapters, each focusing on a year and introduced by a historical contextualization text written by Daniel Fernández Marco.
