Booklet "Sacred Distancing"
Churches all over the world, not only clubs and restaurants, have also had to deal with distance regulations and contact restrictions in the last 2 years. The artist Albert Coers gathers photos of this in his artist booklet "Sacred Distancing": they are pictures of coloured stickers, arrows, coloured ribbons or signs indicating paths through church aisles and rows of pews in churches in Berlin, Munich, Venice, Münster, Sanary-sur-Mer.

Churches traditionally see themselves as open to all people, but in practice this has presented challenges for small and large congregations. Anyone who has attended a service or wanted to visit a church in recent years has found themselves in these individual guidance systems - often installed by volunteers - which almost seem like artistic installations or choreographies. Questions arise about the relationship between (sacred) space and use, distance and proximity, pragmatics and aesthetics.

The format takes up the series "Small Art Guides" published by Schnell & Steiner.
The booklet is published on the occasion of the exhibition "Immunity" (Galerie der Künstler, Munich), where Coers transferred marking strips for entry and exit through the pews of a church as well as numbered chairs into the gallery space.

An edition is published: copies 1-30 are accompanied by a sheet with three stickers, as they also appear in the photos. The first is pasted on the title and labelled with the number of the copy.

Künstlerheft "Sacred Distancing"

Auch die Kirchen in aller Welt, nicht nur Clubs und Restaurants, haben sich in den letzten 2 Jahren mit Abstandsregelungen und Kontaktbeschränkungen beschäftigen müssen. Der Künstler Albert Coers versammelt Fotos davon in seinem Künstlerheft „Sacred Distancing“: Es sind Bilder von farbigen Aufklebern, Pfeilen, Farbbändern oder Schildern, die Wege durch Kirchengänge und Bankreihen in Kirchen in Berlin, München, Venedig, Münster, Sanary-sur-Mer ausweisen.

Gotteshäuser verstehen sich traditionell als offen für alle Menschen, aber in der Praxis hat dies kleine und große Gemeinden vor Herausforderungen gestellt. Wer in den letzten Jahren einen Gottesdienst besucht hat oder eine Kirche besichtigen wollte, fand sich in diesen individuellen, – oft von Ehrenamtlichen installierten – Leitsystemen wieder, die fast wie künstlerische Installationen oder Choreographien anmuten. Es stellen sich Fragen zum Verhältnis von (Sakral-)Raum und Nutzung, Distanz und Nähe, von Pragmatik und Ästhetik.

Das Format nimmt die Serie „Kleine Kunstführer“ im Verlags Schnell & Steiner auf.
Das Heft erscheint anlässlich der Ausstellung „Immunity“ (Galerie der Künstler, München), wo Coers Markierungsstreifen zum Ein- und Ausgang durch die Bänke einer Kirche sowie nummerierte Stühle in den Galerieraum transferierte.
Es erscheint eine Edition: Den Exemplaren 1-30 liegt ein Bogen mit drei Aufklebern bei, wie sie auch auf den Fotos auftauchen. Der erste ist auf den Titel geklebt und mit der Nummer des Exemplars beschriftet.
