Publisher Note

Performative book.
Our world is both apocalyptic and marvellous, it's both at the same time, everything is faster, everything is more enriching and everything is more dramatic.
Inspired by the writings of Paul Virilio, who developed a critical theory of acceleration and progress, predicting the tyranny of speed and the virtual, the dictatorship of the instantaneous, the globalization of emotions, and who prophesied telecommuting as early as 1990.
“For millennia, humanity as a whole has advanced at the speed of the walker, then the horseman, then the train, then the automobile, erasing distances”.
“To gain time is to lose the world”, said Paul Virilio.
I suggest that we regain a foothold in reality and remain vigilant in the face of the promises of technological advances.
