Sounds Found has been a 2 month-long project to document descriptions, words and drawings that refer to sound in an evocative way, without being specifically about music. Primarily a way to pass the time each morning on the commuter train, small sections of the newspaper would be ripped out, stuck in a back pocket and hopefully not lost by the end of the day. S.V
Stephen Vitiello is an electronic musician and media artist based in New York. Recent exhibitions include Yanomami : “Spirit of the Forest and Ce qui arrive”, at The Fondation Cartier, Paris, and the 2002 Whitney Biennial. His installation “World Trade Center Recordings : Winds After Hurricane Floyd” has been presented in numerous international exhibitions and is in the permanent collections of The Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Lyon. Forthcoming solo exhibitions include The Project, L.A. and Galerie Almine Rech, Paris. CD releases include Scanner/Vitiello (Audiosphere/Sub Rosa), Bright and Dusty Things (New Albion Records) and 17:48 from the Texas Gallery (Texas Gallery).
