Publisher Note

After the 2008 publication “Les Camions de Paris” with ninety photographs of graffiti-covered vans, which could be interpreted as the documentation of a permanent painting exhibition in public space, Davix now presents “Abstracts and portraits”, an artist’s booklet on his own painting.
The publication by the Lucerne artist is being released in conjunction with the eponymous exhibition at the Message Salon in Zurich and contains reproductions of a selection of works from recent years, photographs from the studio and from earlier presentations, as well as some camera-obscura shots of the set-up of the exhibition in Zurich and an iris printed original sheet produced on a small offset machine.
In addition to this two-sided printed sheet, the publication, designed by Megi Zumstein and Claudio Barandun, consists of nine further black-and-white and two colour sheets produced in different processes, folded and loosely inserted into one another. In six text fragments distributed over the publication, Bea Stierli approaches the artist’s work.
