Publisher Note

ABYSSSSYBA: INVISIBILITY OF THE EYES is a micro archive of studio activities, texts, and performance documents from 2009 to 2016, comprising material-poetic events using the airborne dispersal of silver powder, towards — and its momentary suspension upon — a briefly existing and reflective membrane, + an index of corresponding works.

Rick Myers is a Manchester-born artist and publisher living in Massachusetts.

Solo exhibitions include: The Poetry Library at Southbank Centre & The Book Library at The Courtauld Institute of Art, London (2015), Printed Matter, New York (2011), White Columns, New York (2009).

Performances include: ‘A Bullet for Buñuel’, MoMA Library, NY (2013), ‘Mirror Feedback Section’ organized by David Senior, New York Art Book Fair, MoMA PS1, NY (2009). Myers was awarded the ‘Printed Matter Award for Artists’ in 2011.

As a publisher, Myers’ press, Edition Muta, is releasing titles which represent the entire and unpublished life’s work of Sacramento poet, Douglas Blazek – responsible, in his influential and prolific early career from the 1960’s until the 1980’s, for ‘making poetry dangerous’. Muta recently published an LP of a previously undiscovered audio cassette recording of Wallace Berman, in conversation with collaborators, family and friends, at his home in Topanga Canyon, 1968.
