Publisher Note

The present edition appears in the series “Performance Saga, Interviews 01–08”, which collects recordings of conversations with female pioneers of performance art and provides insight into their self-image and thinking.
For more than four decades, the performances, installations, films, photographs and concepts of the Austrian VALIE EXPORT have challenged the gaze and attitude of their viewers. From 1968 onwards, she developed expanded cinema actions based on her film work and her examination of feminist themes, which today are regarded as milestones in both film and performance history.
In a conversation among female artists, VALIE EXPORT provides insight into her thinking today and tells of the beginnings of her work. A text booklet with a contribution by Sibylle Peters completes this DVD edition.
