Publisher Note
Volume two of the paperback series fink twice is a re-issue of the texts from the artists' book “Albert’s Guesthouse” by Petra Elena Köhle and Nicolas Vermot-Petit-Outhenin.
A hostel, two employees, six rooms, an absent boss, changing guests: these are the basic conditions of an experimental arrangement in the microcosm of the Cambodian city of Sihanoukville, where Köhle and Vermot took over the management of the small Albert’s Guesthouse Hotel in November 2004. The owner of the hotel, whom they met a few days earlier in the Fullmoon Bar, had to attend his father’s funeral and asked the two Swiss to take over the management of the guesthouse in his absence. For eleven days the artists stand at the reception of the hotel. They talk to the guests, take notes, make portraits, take photographs, document and thus compile materials to create a detailed protocol of meaningful and banal events.
