Publisher Note
The publication “schwarz auf Weiss” (black on white) brings together 13 positions of contemporary drawing in original contributions in an exclusively designed volume. At first glance, the selected works certainly meet the demand for contemporary graphic realism. Nevertheless, a field of tension arises between the supposedly easily accessible drawings of everyday objects, situations or people and their often ambivalent meaning, their surreal or poetic effect.
With a total of 50 illustrations – some of which can be taken from the book as posters – this publication provides an overview in black and white of the graphic work of 13 artists. “Schwarz auf Weiss” is also a wonderful picture book that invites the reader to digress and read.
