Publisher Note
The publication “Archäologie der Instabilität / Unearthed Foundations” by Christoph Brünggel is both an artist’s book and a documentation of his work. In his first publication, published by the Aargauer Kuratorium in the Primeur series, the artist provides the in-depth insight into his research for the first time. Divided into seven groups, more than 300 pictures collected in recent years are brought together to form associative sequences and tell of the topics and questions that concern the artist in his work.
Interspersed between the series of pictures are sixteen full-page colour plates of works, installations and exhibition views. As a representation of the formulated works, they grow out of the pool of research images, so to speak.
A text by Daniel Morgenthaler accompanies the publication and – rich in allusions to research and work – runs through the book in five parts. Finally, an extensive appendix provides detailed information about the material used in the series of pictures and can also be read as a thematic index to the artist's body of work.
