Publisher Note

Since the 1990s, Bob Gramsma has been working in the field of a spatial-sculptural practice that formulates precisely defined spaces as multi-layered interventions and pointed settings.
With “IN” a representative overview of his work is now available. At the same time, the publication also conveys approaches and central themes of the artistic work. As a natural consequence of Gramsma's artistic work, the book is also understood as a space (body). Carefully coordinated picture series are arranged in associative, thematic groups and are followed by text contributions that introduce the work of Bob Gramsma or focus on individual works and thematic aspects. In addition to texts written especially for this book, which look at the work from a contemporary perspective, older, scattered published essays have been revisited and made available again. They shed light on earlier works and at the same time provide insight into the reception of Bob Gramsma’s oeuvre.
As a whole, the publication conveys images of mobility and temporary fixation and underscores the claim not to publish normative fixations and closed receptions, but rather to reveal the driving force behind Gramsma’s artistic practice, the consistent questioning of spatiality as a mental, physical-material and content-related category.
