Melony Ward is publisher of Canadian Art magazine. She was the director of YYZ Artists’ Outlet and has consulted for independent magazines and art galleries in the areas of business development and fundraising.

Bernie Miller is a sculptor originally from Toronto who has been living and working in Winnipeg since 2004. He has shown over the years in various North American and other European venues. In addition to his work as a visual artist Bernie’s range of activities includes writing, editing, teaching, conducting workshops, presenting lectures, as well as various curatorial activities. He has served on the board of Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art since 2005.

Adolf Loos’ provocative 1908 essay, “Ornament and Crime,” continues to ignite controversy, even outrage. His contentious assumptions have inspired the writers in this anthology who explore ornament in film, visual art, literature, fashion, sports, gay culture, and, of course, architecture. The resulting lively interrogations reinstate ornament as a potent cultural indicator.
