“De palabra en palabra” by Ingrid Wildi brings together in a comprehensive volume the transcriptions and translations of various video essays, as well as material on the artist's videastic work.
Ingrid Wildi constructs her video stories in a very simple way. There are three men, each characterizing a woman; there are cinema operators standing in the projection room and talking about their experiences and thoughts at work; or different people describe their relationship to an object they have chosen. However, when listening and thinking along, Wildi's stories begin to become complicated in many ways, because there are always other, latent stories resonating secretly.
Even the most recent and extensive work – “Aquí vive la señora Eliana M...? (Does Eliana M. live here?)” – has been completely transcribed and translated for publication: A year ago Ingrid Wildi set off to Chile to look for her mother, who had left the family at an early age and with whom she has had no contact since she had to emigrate with her father, sister and brother in 1981 ...
