Publisher Note
The book’s ambiguous title refers to both a sound phenomenon and to the abbreviation for ecology and economy. Echo as a sound phenomenon where sound travels, bounces and is repeated with delay is found in mythologies across the world, but it is becoming more and more rare due to today’s noise. However, like other overlooked structures, it is given attention in Thierfelder’s artistic practice. Echo Eco gathers observations of and from public space – aesthetic and at the same time political readings of contemporary conditions through walks in the city. A mix between a visual notebook and an exhibition to go.
