Danish artist Kirstine Roepstorff (*1972 in Denmark) employs the medium of collage and sculptures to create startling visual worlds out of found imagery and new materials through the use of copies, cutouts, and rearrangements. Her technique of "reappropriating" is coupled with an interest in the in-between space as both a formal and conceptual element in her work.

The artist book is published on the occasion of the solo-exhibition "When You Light a Lantern in the Summer Night Many Strange Things Come Flying" curated by Kordula Fritze-Srbic at Kunstverein Göttingen. Nine artworks that Roepstorff has maintained in her private collection and does not offer for sale form the centre piece of the book. Each of these pieces are presented in it's own book-within-a-book, and function as the anchor point around which a personal narrative of words and images evolves. Kirstine Roepstorff creates a rhythmical sequence of collages, sculptures, texts, scanned brass pieces, and found footage – unfolding yet another story behind the story of her personal collection.

Die dänische Künstlerin Kirstine Roepstorff (*1972, Dänemark) verwendet das Medium der Collage und Skulpturen um eindrucksvolle visuelle Bildwelten in einem Prozess des Kopierens, Ausschneidens und Arrangierens zu kreieren. Ihre Technik des „reappropriating” ist mit dem Interesse des Zwischenraums verbunden, der sowohl ein formelles als auch konzeptuelles Element ihrer Arbeit ist.

Das Künstlerbuch von Kirstine Roepstorff wird anlässlich der Einzelausstellung „When You Light a Lantern in the Summer Night Many Strange Things Come Flying" kuratiert von Kordula Fritze-Srbic im Kunstverein Göttingen publiziert. Das Künstlerbuch vereint erstmals Werke aus ihrer privaten Sammlung, die sie nicht für den Verkauf zur Verfügung stellt. Die Arbeiten dieser Kollektion repräsentieren unterschiedliche Schaffensperioden und werden von der Künstlerin als Marksteine ihres Schaffens angesehen. Sie agieren als Ausgangspunkt des Künstlerbuchs, um die sich eine persönliche Narration aus Wörtern und Bildern entfaltet.
