Work Description

In the book, the individual letters of the title are combined with found-footage photographs of people of different ages and backgrounds, all of whom perform the hand gesture of the Victory sign. This gesture symbolizes confidence, a feeling diametrically opposed to doubt. In combination with the writing, which can only be grasped in terms of content in an overall overview of the illustrations or a thumbnail-like flipping through the book, the trace of doubt is placed in the cheerful facade of the photographs. Even the title of the work can be understood in two ways: I do not doubt your indubitability or else: Your indubitability conditions the eradication of all my doubts. However, since doubt is a basic condition of intellectual and reflected artistic work, the assumption of the eradication of all doubts can be doubted in itself and keeps the work in an oppressive limbo. text: Anne Brannys translation: Sophie Aigner
