The multimedia installations by Monica Germann and Daniel Lorenzi are not pre-produced works that can be moved from place to place and repositioned in any space. Their works are each reinvented, they make direct reference to the space surrounding them and include it in a variety of ways. Their interventions are always based on the direct local specifications, wall surfaces, lines of sight and lighting conditions. They extend these conditions through their drawings and sculptural, multi-media interventions.
The resulting works are interfaces between art and music, are strictly speaking collaborations between the artists Germann and Lorenzi and their alter ego, the DJ duo Flexin & Fly Robin.
Monica Germann and Daniel Lorenzi transcend conventional boundaries of art. They combine the direct experience of archaic drawing art with virtual image worlds. They create a connection between ink drawings, video installations and electronic music.
In the publication “on Mouse up” the boundaries dissolve as well: On the one hand we are dealing with a documentation of works, on the other hand with a (dissolved) artist's book. The picture panels – comparable in size and materiality to the Swiss handicraft sheets – represent works of art, but at the same time are themselves independent works in their design and composition, i.e. in the treatment of the individual subjects.
