Waves are all different, yet in another sense, they are all completely the same. Homma’s ongoing photographic project, which begun in 2000, faces inherent limitations in terms of subject matter, yet nevertheless manages to pronounce the photographer’s awareness of the world and its activities. In this series, Homma has continuously photographed waves on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. To date, eight (new waves) exhibitions and four photo books have been published.
