Notes
Series of 9 different sets with 30 stickers each and city map cut-out in plastic box
Publisher Note
For the project “Ortekataster für Zürich” (cadastre of places for Zurich), H.R. Fricker divided Zurich’s city centre into nine grid squares and assigned a place term to each square. A small plastic box is available for each square, which contains stickers with the corresponding name. The area around the main station thus becomes a virtual “Place of Ideas”. Virtual because the idea only takes place in reality once a user, after buying the multiple or the corresponding box, sets off to mark the stickers in the corresponding area.
Thus, in this work a second – psychological – city is laid over Zurich, which is constituted by terms such as vision, lie, illusion, fear, anger, mania, shame and cunning. “Ortekataster für Zürich” is a project that actually should change a city, if it is not its inhabitants who reinterpret the terms and fill them with new life.
