Publisher Note
With “Portobello” the Basle-based artist Hildegard Spielhofer presented her first publication in 2006. The carefully and ingeniously designed illustrated book shows numerous photographs from the work “Portobello” and deepens the context of the work with two precise texts by Maja Naef and Adam Szymczyk.
Three years later, a text booklet appears under the same title, bringing together five very different contributions by Samuel Herzog, Christoph Jäger, Matthias Kuhn, Andres Lutz and Sibylle Omlin. The texts created for this publication are inspired by the images from the “Portobello” project and revolve around shipping, sea and shipwreck.
The illustrated book and the text booklet are available as a bundle. A special edition contains an additionally signed and numbered photo print of a new picture from the “Portobello” series.
