2 illustrations, knot thread stitching
The illustrated book “Portobello” by Hildegard Spielhofer, published in 2006, is now accompanied by a text booklet with contributions by Samuel Herzog, Christoph Jäger, Matthias Kuhn, Andres Lutz and Sibylle Omlin. Inspired by the photographs from “Portobello”, the five very different texts created for this release revolve around shipping, the sea and maritime accidents.
The rain pelts down on the cabin roof and brackish water gurgles around the hull. We are in the Baie de Bouden on the east coast of Santa Lemusa … (Samuel Herzog)
My eyes groped for changes on the horizon. Every shade of black and dark gray was registered, on the surface of the water, in the air. (Sibylle Omlin)
The scene on the stony beach reminds of a battlefield, debris of the three-master lying around, parts of the cargo and the bodies of people and animals. (Matthias Kuhn)
