Publisher Note

“Räume, Geschichten” (Spaces, Stories) is the first comprehensive publication on the work of the artist Andrea Loux. A detailed picture section provides insight into the installations and video works. In addition, the catalogue of works is also equipped with a DVD, which also shows film documentations of the installations and exclusively selected video works. Two texts on the artist's work and a complete catalogue raisonné complete the catalogue.
Andrea Loux’s work moves between the fields of the performative, installation, video and photography, which she links together in a variety of ways. She is interested in themes such as the exploration and transformation of spaces and situations. Their concepts shift the view of the spaces. They open up spaces in between, which condense into images in which the viewers are involved. One could call this the construction of the social: the interaction between art and observation, the interplay between body and space, the astonishment that something is happening.
In her works, Loux often deals with so-called normal, everyday situations. However, she never tells the stories to the end; on the contrary, they are shown so incompletely that the viewer has no choice but to think the stories through to the end.
