This bound, paper-back book contains several recipes for Italian dishes, handwritten and photographed in situ with the paper and personal artifacts that relate to them. Ricettacolo represents the transition of a personal book to a reproducible one; there are some instances at the end of the publication where its theme swerves slightly and becomes reflective of the author’s residence in Brooklyn through photographs, New York-centric recipes and collages of personal images. A jovial print and title along the side of the book suggests a kinship to commercial cook books. An elastic band is used to wrap around the book, held together by a single gold safety pin. Ricettacolo is a playful reference to a family’s cooking secrets in a monetized instructional cooking context.
