Publisher Note
The Source is a brain in which each zone is the seat of physical and emotional impulses. This book, an extension of the exhibition designed by Chiara Parisi for the Villa Carmignac on the island of Porquerolles, offers a gateway to the curious who, like Alice in Wonderland , wish to explore the labyrinth of their fantasies and their inner emotions.
La Source is a literary space, a place of dialogue between artists and Chiara Parisi. More than forty texts - previously unpublished or collected - form an intimate conversation based on the one question: where is the source?
At the heart of the book, an original set of poems by Roy Lichtenstein, written in 1949, gives us access to an unknown facet of this essential artist of the Carmignac Collection. The Source is to look closer to the artists, their works and their thought.
