Publisher Note
In his handmade, signed and numbered photo book, which is published in a limited edition of 100 copies, Philipp Graf shows 42 views of Viennese mailboxes. These are found objects that were discovered by him on his walks through Vienna and while exploring the city. The individual mailboxes attracted his attention through their staging: how or where they hang, in which neighborhood they are located, or in which light scenario they show themselves. He found them hidden around the next street corner, in niches on house facades or between business portals, often covered with a layer of tags and stickers. Embedded in their surroundings, the mailboxes tell their own story on closer inspection. The photo book was presented in October 2019 as part of the “Vienna Art Book Fair”.
