Work Description
Zenith Boil is an exploration of the architectural image when subjected to an atmosphere. Twenty-seven spaces were selected from Pa.LaC.E’s back catalog of work. A rendering of each space was processed on a 35mm slide and then placed into a photographic scenario called a “scintillator,” which makes “visible” air. For each of the twenty-seven slides, a 33-second video was recorded. This publication gathers stills from these videos to document the atmosphere of swirling temperatures that in January, 2021, passed around each 35mm slide in an empty room in Basel.
