Work Description

In the 16 Artworks series, artists' books are published in which 16 selected works of art are presented on a specific theme. The idea behind this project is to set art against the flood of images of our time. Quality against quantity. For each volume, selected works will be published as an Open Edition in a signed repro print as Silver Gelatin C-Prints and Giclée Fineart Prints. See the link "buy at PEECHO" for buying this book at RETAILORS on the right side. In 2021, the author's son found an inconspicuous box in the attic. In it a handmade booklet with the inscription "Herbarium for Valentin Hümpfner - created on April 20, 1880". For 140 years, pressed flowers and plants now lay in this notebook, gradually changing their colors and strengthening their structures through the drying process. Time created works of art of unique beauty. The passing of these living creatures was thus prolonged. Once again they rebel in all their beauty against the transience of all being. Franz Hümpfner photographed all these plants, processed the digital data in Photoshop, enhanced colors and contrasts, created enlargements in image sections. In this way, photographic works of art were created about the fleeting nature of all material existence.
