Publisher Note

First edition, this issue of Kunst-Zeitung is devoted entirely to Bernd and Hilla Becher.
It was issued to coincide with an exhibition at the Städtische Kunsthalle Düsseldorf which ran from 24 January until 9 March 1969, the first time their work was exhibited in the city where they would teach several generations of artists, including Andreas Gursky, Candida Höfer, Axel Hütte, Simone Nieweg, Thomas Ruff, Jörg Sasse, and Thomas Struth, at the School of Photography in the Kunstakademie, Düsseldorf between 1976 and 1996.
