Publisher Note

"Contro-corrente. Sur la route de Pier Paolo Pasolini" (On the Road with Pier Paolo Pasolini) is inspired by Pier Paolo Pasolini's travelogue, "La lunga strada di sabbia (The Long Sandy Road)", the road along the Italian coast that he traveled in his Millecento during the summer of 1959.
This little-known work already contains all of Pasolini's poetry, his authentic, sometimes incisive, observations on the state of his country, his love for it.
Chantal Vey has taken this route again, alone at the wheel of her van, revisiting the places he described sixty years earlier.
This exploration of Italy led Chantal Vey to travel thousands of kilometers, collecting photographs, videos, sounds, words... As with Pasolini, this quest has a poetic value, much more than a documentary testimony. The book is divided into three chapters, following the chronology of his travels, and unfolds as closely as possible to the adventure, echoing the words of the Italian poet. This adventure is revealed from different perspectives, through photographs, stills, texts, drawings, and quotes. From page to page, the reader's goal is to take the reader, the viewer, on a journey to the Italy of today, and to pique or reawaken their curiosity about this illustrious artist, Pier Paolo Pasolini.
The book is interwoven with Chantal Vey's journal, allowing the reader to follow step by step the discoveries, sensations, and encounters the artist made throughout his journey.
