Publisher Note
Giulia Essyad (CH) is an artist, poet and performer born in 1992. She has published several collections of poetry, including “Birthday” (Oraibi/Beckbooks) and “Poetry Archive” (Quark).
As a digital native born in a female body, Essyad is concerned with the representation of bodies, both online and in real life, and engages with the various forms of alienation that accompany the consumption and production of body images. In 2018, she initiated a cycle of works titled "Blue Period", which is ongoing and in which the work 'Crying' can be placed. She uses the colour blue as a focal point and signifier of otherness and artificiality, exploring unexplored spaces in her field of interest.
