Publisher Note
“I want to say something” by Martina-Sofie Wildberger is published on the occasion of the exhibition “SCREAM” at the Museum zu Allerheiligen Schaffhausen as part of the Manor Art Prize 2019.
In her work, the performance artist concentrates on the sounds of speech and voices. By means of shifts in structure and meaning, she explores themes such as understanding, the negotiation of relationship and language as an instrument of power. But it is always also about poetic expression and embodiment of voice in space. The audience is part of this multi-layered, also emotional sound space and the examination of what words and voices can do.
The text volume “I want to say something” is based on the performance of the same name and translates the improvisation on the five words with rhythm, tempo, word compositions and repetitions, timbre and volume into the form of the book.
